More or less the same view hits the eyeballs in Lucky's Wild Pub 2 as in the previous slot. The pub itself is a friendly-looking establishment, patronised by leprechaun characters, and staffed by a female worker behind the bar. Is that a comment on patriarchal society, or something completely coincidental? Something to mull over as we take in not only the amiable sights, but the amiable tunes that so often join leprechaun/Irish themed games, possibly one of the genre's most agreeable elements. Two things may spoil the mood, though, or amplify it depending on taste. One is the three pots above the reels, while the second is the row of local prizes just below them.

A highly volatile math model drives Lucky's Wild Pub 2's action, which takes place on a 5x3 gaming grid. There are 25 paylines, awarding payouts when landing combinations of matching symbols from the leftmost reel onwards. Players may stake $/€0.25 to $/€250 per spin, and the maximum RTP is 96.5% when betting this way or when buying either of the features.

In the base game, three types of bonus coins may appear, each one collected by its respective coloured pot:

• Purple Coin - When collected, it may trigger Pot Respins with the Multiplier Zone modifier. Four zones highlight the grid, and a random multiplier of x2 to x100 is assigned to each zone. When a zone is filled with money symbols, their values are multiplied by the zone multiplier.
• Red Coin - When collected, it may trigger Pot Respins with the Doublin' modifier. This bonus gets played in two 5x3 grids. Each grid starts with the triggering bonus coins transformed into money symbols.
• Green Coin - When collected, it may trigger Pot Respins with the Life modifier. The Pot Respin plays with 4 respins rather than 3.

The collection occurs at the end of the spin, and if Pot Respins are triggered, one, two, or three modifiers are activated randomly.

Pot Respins

When triggered, players win 3 respins where only money symbols with values of 0.6x to 30x, the 10x Mini, 20x Minor, or 150x Major or blanks may land. Money symbols are sticky and reset the spin count when they hit. The triggering bonus coins activate their respective modifier before transforming into money symbols. The round ends when there are no more respins or all positions are filled. If all positions are filled, the 5,000x Grand prize is also awarded.

Feature Buy

There are two options for buying the Pot Respin round. 100x buys Pot Respins with the Multiplier Zone only, or the Multiplier Zone with up to two of the other modifiers. Paying 500x buys the same thing, except one of the zones is guaranteed to have the 100x multiplier.

Whilst the original wasn't the worst three modifier game ever invented, the thought of test-running a sequel wasn't overly exciting. What energy was in the tank evaporated further when it became clear that Pragmatic Play basically built Lucky's Wild Pub 2 off the structure of Chests of Cai Shen 2. It didn't score highly at the time, so Pragmatic Play's decision to graft recycled mechanics into an Irish-themed skin meant Lucky's Wild Pub 2 faced an uphill battle to win hearts and minds.

For the most part, the opinion of Lucky's Wild Pub 2 didn't really change from start to end. There are no mechanical surprises to uncover, and the skin looks essentially the same as the original, so yeah, same old stuff. As for the Pot Respin main event, it does what these sorts of features advertise. Namely, trigger with up to three modifiers in play. The Multiplier Zone is arguably the highlight, and you can see how some gamblers might enjoy the suspense of filling zones with symbols in order to apply the multiplier to their values. It's something. The other two modifiers are less innovative, though helpful enough when respins reset to four or two grids are landing money symbols.

Winning potential is on the relatively high side, at 15,000x the bet, so Lucky's end-of-the-rainbow pot can be quite fruitful. In summary, Lucky's Wild Pub 2 is charming and all, but it suffers from recycled gameplay, which wasn't amazing to begin with, wrapped in a skin that's cheerful, yes, but again, has already been used before.
