Return of Kong Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Review
There is a time and place for innovation, but you surely cannot expect a gold-chain wearing gorilla to lead the charge into uncharted terrain. As the title suggests, Return of Kong Megaways is a trip down memory lane, and this solidly crafted game shows that Megaways is a blessing that can make any old game as engaging as brand-spanking-new ideas. To be completely fair, however, Return of Kong is an entirely different game compared to its predecessor King Kong Cash (2016), yet on the surface, they share the same playfulness and ways of constantly messing with your expectations.

If you've played Blueprint's recent offerings, much of Return of Kong Megaways will be familiar to you. Built around the successful Bonanza template, this 6 reel Donkey Kong-inspired slot can offer up to 117,649 ways to win and makes use of cascading symbols. Kong has never been mistaken for a noble hero, but he'll do all he can to help you along the way such as giving you the thumbs up on winning spins, or better yet, randomly throw golden barrels at the reels to provide you with mystery symbols. Spell K-O-N-G on the reels, and you'll trigger The Return of Kong Megaways Free Spins feature where you can collect golden monkeys to upgrade the minimum number of Megaways. You can join Kong on his escapades on all devices from between 0.10 to 100 EUR per spin.
Heavily inspired by Nintendo's Donkey Kong, we're taken to the heart of Kong's jungle kingdom. Every element of the game is a sight to behold, from Kong's goofy animations to the impressive backdrop, giving you a visual feast to take in while spinning the reels. There you'll see 9 to A royals as well as more rewarding parrots, tigers, rhinos and, of course, the narcissistic Kong himself who is the top payer, giving you 50 times your stake for 6 of a kind. There's also a wild that substitutes for all standard symbols.
Return of Kong Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Features
Return of Kong Megaways is played using Cascading Symbols. When you land a winning combination, it sets off a reaction and the winning symbols are removed as new ones drop in to replace them. These reactions repeat until no new winning combinations appear. Furthermore, the height of each reel varies with each spin from 3 to 7 symbols - at its max configuration you get 117,649 ways to win.
Just like in his first adventure released back in 2016, Kong will throw golden barrels at the reels from time to time. This is a randomly activated base game feature known as The Mystery Kong feature, or the mystery symbols feature if you will, where all barrels appearing in view will reveal identical symbols for a bigger chance to land winning combinations.
Look out for the 4 scatter symbols spelling K-O-N-G. This will trigger the Free Spins feature with 12 spins - any further scatter will display a +5 symbol. Fundamentally, the free spins round is similar to Bonanza and most other Megaways slots where each win increases the multiplier by x1, with no limits.
What stands out here is the monkey trophy collection feature. Appearing in the horizontal reel only, any golden monkey trophy that lands in view will be added to the collection meter positioned left of the reel set. When 3 trophies have been collected, +2 free spins are added to your total and the minimum number of Megaways is increased. If you collect enough trophies, you could be playing with 117,649 ways to win on all your remaining spins.
Return of Kong Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Verdict
The critics are going to say that Blueprint needs to come up with something new and that they've stopped being creative. It would be a fair point to make, although we don't fully agree. Blueprint Gaming, in our opinion at least, always seems to find new interesting twists that make every new Megaways title worth to explore. In combination with a 50,000 xbet potential, Return of Kong Megaways is a game that will be hard to resist.
The visual presentation is exceptional too and the aesthetic pleasures are able to match the supreme gameplay. Make no mistake about it, Return of Kong Megaways is a volatile slot that can be brutal on your balance, although like Bonanza, it will often give you quite a lot of playtime. Even if many elements are similar to other Blueprint titles, the free spins feature alone totally makes it worthwhile.
