Mystic Dolphin Charge Up Slot (Mini Review)

Mystic Dolphin Charge Up slot

Mystic Dolphin Charge Up is a 5x3 slot from ReelPlay using 25 fixed paylines and offering a maximum win of 10,000x the bet. It runs on a 96.02% RTP with stakes ranging from $/€0.25 up to $/€250 and is built around the Charge Up mechanic, which controls both upgrades and access to free spins.

Wins are formed by landing matching symbols from left to right. Scatter symbols play a central role, as each one is collected into the Charge Up Meter. Once 20 scatters have been gathered, the meter triggers either an upgrade or the free spins feature. Any additional scatters collected before the feature will carry over and continue filling the meter afterwards.

There are three upgrades available. Added Wilds places between one and three wilds onto the reels each spin. Contagious Wilds spreads wild symbols to adjacent positions, turning nearby symbols into wilds. Multiplier applies a random boost of x2, x3 or x5 to any wins. If multiple upgrades are active at the same time, they are applied in sequence, starting with added wilds, then the spreading effect, and finally the multiplier.

Free spins are triggered either directly by scatters or through the meter and cannot be retriggered. When the feature begins, all unlocked upgrades are applied to every spin, meaning the strength of the bonus depends heavily on how much progress was made beforehand.

While the Charge Up system adds some structure to the gameplay, it also makes the experience feel a bit drawn out, with a lot of time spent building towards something that doesn't always deliver. The upgrades themselves are fairly standard, and without all three active, the bonus can feel underwhelming. Combined with average presentation and no bonus buy option, this ends up being a rather forgettable release that doesn't do much to stand out.
