Pretty fun slot. Candy Corner lives up to it's name, as the corners are where the sweet magic happens. The golden spins are kind of like a super bonus, they guarantee each spin will have at least one of the modifiers (selected at random before the start of the free spins) appear in a corner, and you can get them from standard spins, so that is nice. I spun into one with the instant prize reward, which gave a fun and rewarding bonus round, though the multiplier one seems to have the most potential. Base game is a little underwhelming, I didn't find myself really wowed or enjoying it too much. The bonus is where you want to be, and sadly it takes a while to get in. Thankfully, the bonus rounds take a while to play out, so you won't be doing a 1000 spins, just to get into a bonus round that ends in 30 seconds like a lot of high volatility slots do. This slot beckons you to hunt the golden free spins, and I'm ok with that. I have the right kind of sweet tooth for it.

In Dark Waters 3 Power Combo: The Cursed Voyage, you have a more interesting version of the overdone/abused 3 pots (chests here) gameplay that features progression. The progression mechanics makes you want to keep playing, first with unlocking all the ghostly pirate skellies and their powers, and then gathering gems for each chest in the hopes that you trigger multiple of them at their maximum potential (although I fear the potential of the gems is an illusion, this is a virtual slot machine after all). Once you get all the unlocks the games features a lot of random triggers which are a kind of single-spin version of the bonus game of their corresponding chest. They barely manage to avoid feeling too repetitive, IMO. Each chest bonus confers a fairly distinct boost that mesh well together, as you would want from this style of game. I have yet to trigger all 3 chests at once, and it's a really good hook that this pirate-themed game has to keep you wanting. Dark Waters 3 Power Combo: The Cursed Voyage has some epic pirate-y music to go along with the above gameplay goodness. Dark Waters 3 Power Combo: The Cursed Voyage did not feel very volatile: more middle-of-the-road than high volatility. Dark Waters 3 Power Combo: The Cursed Voyage is worth taking for a spin.

5 Sweet Lions Bonanza. Multiplier wilds and tumbles: a simple recipe for satisfying gameplay, is competently executed here in Jelly Express. While the slot's mechanics feel very familiar, as in it lacks any significant innovation, they are more than satisfying enough and paired with the enjoyable candy coated visuals + fun soundtrack (it's already baked in my brain), the game managed to keep me playing for many (and I mean MANY) thousands of spins. The ante bet, while expensive relative to the game's humble 5,000x max win, does give you guaranteed multiplier on wild hits, so it's more interesting than just a bonus chance boost. The highlight of this game for me was when you are in free spins and the super free spins is rewarded (randomly triggered by gold coins), this can turn around a bad bonus round quite easily. It happens rarely, but it certainly got me excited every time. I found it tough to get big x-wins with standard spins, the 1 in 16,129,065 max win probability also reflects the low probability of big wins in general (I never got 300x+). If you are seeking those, Pragmatic really wants you to pay for the super, regardless, it kept me engaged and I will likely play it more. 7.5/10

This is a pretty good horror themed slot, however I wish they took the horror a step further with additional eeriness (esp. on the win screens); not enough heebie jeebies. Great music in both the base (obvious Silent Hill influence, esp. when the music picks up) and bonus games. The Junji Ito aesthetic is nice, I haven't seen it in a slot before. I got goosebumps when I got lucky and had successive big cascading hits, each capped by a sudden hit number and stunning, bang (I may be missing the vocabulary to describe the kind of noise lol) The hidden epic bonus is uninteresting, perhaps highlighting how the game could benefit from an additional mechanic or different play mode entirely, at least for the epic bonus. Solid slot to sink your teeth into, but with middling at best longevity, as the gameplay isn't quite satisfying enough or have enough depth to take Dark Spiral to true greatness.

Cult

Cult is a disappointing slot. A game with multiplier wilds should lend itself to some satisying wins, but this slot doesn't elicit the emotions I would want to experience as a big hit is unfolding, neither when the multi is building up or when the big win screen is presented. The titular topic was handled in a shallow, safe manner. The topic of a money-grubbing cult is actually quite a safe one to tackle, you have to touch on something truly taboo/controversial to gain my respect for this sort of thing, but I doubt a provider as big as Pragmatic can do that (big game companies never do these days). It's cool how during base game hits the animation of the symbols go between the meek, religious version and the egotistic, hedonistic versions. The transition from base game to bonus game is also kind of cool. The slot might sound good on paper, but IMO the final real world result is a merely OK slot game, with maybe an eye-catching aesthetic (to some) that people will stop playing quickly and not return to.

Big Bass Raceday Repeat

"You WILL play the Big Bass reskins and you WILL be happy" - Reel Kingdom, probably. Just kidding. Base game of this bass game is woefully uneventful, as usual. Bonus game is not much better, feels identical to other Big Bass games even if there's a new upgrade. This game doesn't have a ridiculously long unskippable cutscene like some Big Bass games, so that's nice. It didn't devour my balance as Big Bass games tend to do (guess I got lucky), so that's another plus. Reskins can be good if they are exceptional in their presentation or can sufficiently separate itself from the original to feel like it's own thing -- Big Bass Raceday Repeat fails to do that.

Jumpasaurs!

Very cute 8-bit dinosaurs jumping to make your day (and hopefully grow your balance). I really like the big win screens, so much color and joy, brings me back to a simpler time somehow. The overall aesthetic is great. While I'm not sure the gameplay is quite deep or satisfying enough for me to play this endlessly, there's a good chance you will enjoy it for a bit, it feels different to other games and had my attention early (a lot of games don't!) -- I had a good time (though, the dinosaurs kind of printed for me). Seeing the Jumpasaurs jump to reveal a big ass multiplier had my eyes getting big repeatedly. I recommend you jump right in and give this a try if you haven't already.

Starlight Princess Super Scatter

Starlight Princess: the better Gates of Olympus.... by that I just mean I prefer the music and aesthetic, hehe. The satisfying gameplay loop of Gates, but upbeat, high energy, and a cute animal companion in the bonus game. This is just a superior package to Gates, IMO (e.g. the music, the animations etc.). There's a lot to like here unless you have an irrational aversion to anime girls or cute animals. Super scatters don't add much to Starlight Princess, but it's still Starlight Princess so it makes for a good time. More potential, too, for the boatloads of people who'll surely benefit from that. The Starlight Princess herself is a great character with a very nice voice-over, except in Starlight Princess 1000, where the voice-over for the titular princess was such a downgrade that I find it off-putting to play. It's this or the original. Good game, and one that's saved my slot session more than a couple times.

The highlighted spots symbol transforming mechanic makes what would otherwise be a quick pass, decently enjoyable and had me stack up some playtime on this game. Best thing is when you get multiple active-pot symbols inside the highlighted area, then it triggers the mass transformation of the highlighted area twice. These can make for some very good moments. Retrigs in the bonus game feel quite good in this game due to it making the free spins significantly more powerful on top of getting the additional spins. Good odds of max win on a slot with 10,000x potential. Pursuing Osiris' treasure is worth considering!

Even if the bizarrely out of place alien symbol didn't exist, I don't think I would take this game seriously in terms of horror, but I get the feeling it's the kind of horror that doesn't take itself seriously on purpose. Even the wild symbol (the hooded skeleton) seems more mischievous (yet friendly somehow), than scary or evil. The bonus game is where it's all at here, growing multiplier spots and transforming those spots into wilds whenever a wild appears, it's pretty satisfying. While seemingly very buildup oriented, I find myself surprised by good hits coming out of what I thought was a crappy round of free spins. Cool to have the choice between Value and Speed, I mostly went for Speed, because I'm impatient and want in to the bonus rounds more often. Haunted Crypt was something a bit different, something a bit strange, and I kind of like it.
